Fall EZboard Caricature Carving

Fall EZboard Caricature Carving

This just came my way from Steve in Stillwater, Minnesota. Thanks, Steve!

Attached is a photo of two of the 21 caricature pumpkins I carved as gifts for family and friends.  Twenty were basswood and one was carved from EZBoard.  The EZBoard carving is on the left in this photo.  It carved in about half the time it took to create one in basswood.  I painted them all in acrylic, but my usual mixture of one part paint to 10 parts water wasn’t thick enough to cover the green color of the EZBoard, so I had to go to about two to one.  The paint also took much longer to dry on the EZBoard.  I painted the black eye squint on the EZBoard version, but burned them on all the basswood pieces.
On the whole, EZBoard carves just like wood only easier.  It’s fun to work with and I’ll definitely try more projects with EZBoard.
